Dhruva Natchathiram to Jigarthanda DoubleX: 4 mega Tamil films releasing in November 2023

2023 has proven to be an incredible year for Tamil cinema so far, with several films receiving widespread acclaim worldwide. From Rajanikanth’s Jailer to Vijay-starrer Leo, Tamil films have conquered the box office globally. The excitement continues as November approaches, bringing with it a slew of highly anticipated releases. From GVM-Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram to Karthi’s Japan, there are a number of Tamil films poised for release. Here’s a look at the much-awaited films, releasing around Diwali.

1. Dhruva Natchathiram

Release date: November 24

Upcoming spy thriller Dhruva Natchathiram, helmed by Gautham Vasudevan Menon, is counted among this year’s highly anticipated releases. In the making for almost a decade, the Vikram-starrer revolves around an undercover agent from New York named, John (Vikram), who is given a covert assignment to find the team’s mysteriously vanished boss. The movie’s ensemble cast includes actors Ritu Varma, Parthiban, Simran and Radikaa Sarathkumar. The film is bankrolled by GVM’s home production, Ondraga Entertainment, and Oru Oorile Oru Film House.

2. Japan

Release date: November 10

Karthi-starrer Japan, directed by Raju Murugan, is an upcoming comedy drama, which will mark the 25the film in the actor’s career. According to reports, Karthi plays a notorious thief in the movie, who gives the cops a run for their money. He is also seen donning a completely different and extravagant look in the film. The plot is said to be inspired by the life of Tiruvarur Murugan, who was involved in many jewellery thefts, and was later arrested by the police. The star cast includes Anu Emmanuel, Jithan Ramesh, KS Ravikumar, Sunil, Vijay Milton, Vagai Chandrasekar and Bava Chelladurai.

3. Jigarthanda DoubleX

Release date: November 10

Jigarthanda DoubleX is an upcoming period action comedy film, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. It is a standalone prequel to Jigarthanda (2014), starring Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah. The plot is based on 1975 Tamil Nadu, when a filmmaker and dreaded gangster collaborate to make a Western film. The film also features Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko, Sathyan, Aravind Akash, Ilavarasu and Bava Chelladurai in pivotal roles.

4. Raid

Release date: November 12

Helmed by debutant director Karthi, Raid is an action thriller drama film, starring Vikram Prabhu and Sri Divya. Vikram Prabhu plays the role of a police officer, who is transferred to a new town where he is forced to deal with a powerful gang led by a ruthless gangster. The police officer is determined to put an end to the gangster’s reign of terror and restore peace in town. Ananthika, Soundara Raja, Daniel, Hareesh Peradi, Rishi Rithvik play supporting roles in this film.
