Dhoomam OTT release date - When, where to watch Fahadh Faasil's psychological thriller

Filmmaker Pawan Kumar's latest film Dhoomam, starring Fahadh Faasil, has finally made its streaming debut. The film is now available for streaming on Apple TV. Pawan on Wednesday unceremoniously tweeted the link to the film's landing page on the streaming platform. Viewers can stream the film on iTunes for Rs 150.

Dhoomam was released in cinemas in June this year amid significant anticipation. Considering Pawan and Fahadh's strong reputation for delivering highly compelling films, Dhoomam was expected to become a big critical hit, giving it a much-needed boost at the box office. 

However, Dhoomam received poor reviews from all critics upon its theatrical debut, greatly undercutting its box office potential. "Though Dhoomam addresses a relevant issue, the flat storytelling and sluggish pace bog down the film, which could have been edited further to make for a taut thriller," read OTTplay's 2.5-star review.

By the end of its opening weekend, the box office fate of the movie was very clear. It was a huge disaster, delivering a big blow to all the top names involved in the project. 

Dhoomam's abysmal box office performance resulted in delaying its streaming debut. According to reports, initially, Amazon Prime Video had joined hands with the producers at Hombale Films as the film's OTT partner. However, due to "some internal issues" the streaming debut of the film didn't happen as expected.

The filmmakers also refrained from giving clarity on the matter, which further fueled speculation about the film's digital availability, leaving many uncertain about its streaming fate.

Dhoomam marked the Malayalam debut of director Pawan. It was also Hombale Films' maiden venture into the Malayalam film industry. Besides Fahadh, the film also stars Aparna Balamurali, Roshan Mathew, Achyuth Kumar, Anu Mohan, and Vineeth.
