Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil’s upcoming thriller Dhoomam, which is helmed by Kannada filmmaker Pawan Kumar and produced by KGF and Kantara makers’ Hombale Films, seemed to have already sold its OTT rights.
The Malayalam movie, which will also be released in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, has Fahadh, Roshan Mathew, Aparna Balamurali, Vineeth, Anu Mohan and Achyuth Kumar in pivotal roles. Dhoomam, which is also scripted by Pawan Kumar, is set for a theatrical release on June 23. It will mark Hombale Films’ first-ever Malayalam production.
We now hear that the makers have sold the movie’s OTT rights to Amazon Prime Video, which had incidentally also picked up the streaming rights for Fahadh’s previous release Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum that is currently streaming in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.
Though the makers are yet to officially confirm this, if the reports are true, the makers can expect the movie to begin streaming on Prime Video within a month of its theatrical release. Dhoomam will be distributed in Kerala by Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames. The companies had previously collaborated with Hombale Films to showcase the Malayalam version of Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 and Rishab Shetty’s Kantara, and will also be teaming up to co-produce Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan later this year.

Meanwhile, the makers had released the trailer of Dhoomam the previous week. The film hints at a suspense thriller revolving around greed, betrayal and kidnapping. In an earlier interview with us, Pawan, who had initially pitched the movie in Kannada, told us that he was happy to make it in Malayalam with some of the best talents in the industry – Fahadh, Aparna and Roshan.
Achyuth Kumar, the only Kannada actor in the movie, has even dubbed in Malayalam for his role in Dhoomam, which was initially titled C10H14N2 in Kannada. Pawan had previously helmed acclaimed films such as Lucia and U-Turn.
