Dhill (2001)
This action -entertainer starring Vikram (Kanagavel) and Laila (Asha) in the lead, marked Ashish Vidyarthi's debut in Tamil. The film, directed by Dharani, had Ashish Vidyarthi play the corrupt officer Encounter Shankar, who teases Asha and in the fight that ensues, receives a scar on his face. He then decides to take on Kanagavel, an aspiring police officer.
Ghilli (2004)
Ashish Vidyarthi once again makes his appearance as a police officer, this time around as the honest DCP Sivasubramaniam, who is a doting father as well. The film, helmed by Dharani had Vijay and Trisha as the lead and the film emerged as one of the biggest hits in their careers. Ashish Vidyarthi's transformation as an upright cop, who would go on to the extent of arresting his own son, had won hearts.
Bheemaa (2008)
This crime action film marked Ashish Vidyarthi's yet another collaboration with Chiyaan Vikram. He once again plays a police officer, who is roped in to control the violence in the city and to take down two violent gangs headed by Prakash Raj and Raghuvaran. The film was helmed by Lingusamy/
Kanthaswamy (2009)
In yet another collaboration with Vikram, Ashish Vidyarthi played Pallur Paramajothi Ponnusamy, an arrogant entrepreneur, who has stashed black money at home. When the police get a whiff of the same, Ponnusamy pretends to have a stroke and thus escapes the interrogation. Meanwhile, his daughter Subbulakshmi (Shriya Saran) pretends to be in love with CBI officer Kanthaswamy (Vikram) to take revenge on him.
Uthamaputhiran (2010)
This romantic comedy by Mithran Jawahar had Ashish Vidyarthi testing waters in comedy. He plays Periyamuthu Gounder in the film, who is a well off man in his hometown. He and his younger brother Chinnamuthu Gounder (Jaya Prakash Reddy) are both uneducated and are later tricked into marrying off their sons to the daughters of so-called billionaires.
