Dhanush’s Raayan marks his 50th outing as lead actor and second directorial venture. Reports suggest that the makers have locked the date for the audio launch event.

Raayan is an upcoming Tamil film starring Dhanush in the lead role. Scheduled to release on July 26, Raayan not only marks Dhanush’s 50th film as an actor, but also his second directorial after Pa Paandi in 2017. With expectations for Raayan increasing, reports suggest that the makers have locked the date for the pre-release/ audio launch event. Read on to know more.
Raayan's audio launch, as per reports, is planned to take place on July 6 in Chennai. An official announcement on the same is expected soon to follow. With the music of Raayan scored by AR Rahman, the event is expected to feature some prominent industry names and star cast.
Raayan is a gangster drama, set in the northern suburbs of Chennai. It is expected to revolve around a family consisting of three brothers and a sister. With Dhanush playing the titular character, Raayan’s star cast also includes Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan, Aparna Balamurali, Dushara Vijayan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, SJ Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, and others. The film is slated for release on July 26.
Raayan has music scored by AR Rahman and is backed by Sun Pictures. The promotions for the film have already begun, with the team releasing two singles from the film, Adangaatha Asuran and Water Packet. However, the makers are yet to release the teaser and trailer of the film.
Contrary to many reports which said Raayan is penned by Selvaraghavan, the director had clarified that the script belongs to Dhanush. Raayan will also mark the first time Selvaraghavan is acting in his brother Dhanush’s directorial.
Meanwhile, Dhanush is also working with Sekhar Kammula in Kubera. It will be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film. The actor is also headlining the upcoming biopic of Ilaiyaraaja, the veteran music composer. In Hindi, Dhanush will be working with filmmaker Aanand L. Rai in Tere Ishq Mein.
