Tamil star Dhanush's latest movie Captain Miller will soon make its streaming debut. The film's official streaming partner is Netlfix. Based on past instances, it's safe to assume that the movie will arrive on the platform after completing a four-week theatrical run.

Considering the box office performance of Captain Miller has tapered off in its second week, there's a strong likelihood that the film will land on Netflix within the next two weeks

Captain Miller's uninspiring box office run

Captain Miller had a strong buzz ahead of its release. And it was expected to become a biggest hit in Dhanush's career, considering his last two small-budget dramas Thiruchitrambalam and Vaathi surprised everyone by raking in more than Rs 100 crore in ticket sales.

However, Captain Miller didn't meet its box office expectations despite drawing mostly favourable reviews from the critics. The movie was released on January 12 to cash in on the Pongal holiday. And it clashed with Sivakarthikeyan's sci-fi drama Ayalaan at the box office. Even though the movie gave the career-best opening for Dhanush, it failed to maintain a strong momentum in cinemas after its opening weekend.

It has reportedly only managed to earn a little more than Rs 65 crore during its first two weeks. And it's not a very significant sum considering its estimated budget of Rs 50 crore. At least a movie should collect three times its original budget.

Dhanush leads the war against the British

Dhanush takes on the role of Analeesan, aka Captain Miller, in the movie Captain Miller, portraying a member of an oppressed community in British India. Driven by a desire for liberation from caste-based mistreatments, Captain Miller joins the imperial army.

However, Miller's life takes a dramatic turn when he is forced to open fire on his own countrymen during a peaceful protest. Traumatized by the senseless violence, he rebels against the British Empire, refusing to blindly follow orders and becoming their worst nightmare.

Director Arun Matheswaran, making his debut with a worldwide release, has previously helmed two small-budget movies. Rocky, his first film, had a limited cinema release, while Saani Kaayidham, his second, premiered directly on streaming due to the pandemic.

Captain Miller also stars Shivarajkumar, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Aditi Balan, Sundeep Kishan, Edward Sonnenblick and John Kokken.
