This news is bound to bring smiles on the faces of the music lovers not just across India, but all across the globe! The much-awaited biopic of the legendary music composer ‘Isaigniani’ Ilaiyaraaja, is finally seeming to take shape. The news about his biopic had been making the rounds for quite some time now. The latest update is that, the southern superstar Dhanush is now the man who will be seen playing the titular role in the most eagerly awaited biopic.
As per a source-based news report in Bollywood Hungama, it has been reported that, it will be Dhanush who has been chosen by the film’s makers to play the leading role in the biopic of the stellar music composer Ilaiyaraaja. The news stated that the said film will go on floors next year (in 2024). Once the film is complete, the film’s makers are eyeing to release the film in the year 2025. The film in question will be reportedly produced by Connekkt Media. Speaking of Connekkt Media, one will recall that it's the same production house who are also producing superstar Mohanlal’s pan-Indian film ‘Vrushabha’.
As per the said news report, it has been stated that, Ilaiyaraaja’s son had stated a few months back, that he would love to see Dhanush play the role of his father Ilaiyaraaja in his biopic. Speaking of Dhanush, this will be the southern superstar actor’s first ever biopic of his career. The production house has not yet announced anything officially. What remains to be seen is who will be the filmmaker who will be given the ‘responsibility of a lifetime’ to direct a biopic of the illustrious music composer Ilaiyaraaja in the pan-India film. Speaking about the director, one may recall that a few months ago, during the film promotions of the Saiyami Kher- Abhishek Bachchan starrer ‘Ghoomer’, the film’s director R Balki had shared his aspiration that his dream was to make Ilaiyaraaja’s biopic with Dhanush. He added that he saw Raja sir in him because, in some way, Dhanush’s face resembled that of the master composer, lyricist, and singer, who had scored music for over 1,000 feature films in a career spanning five decades.
