Thiruchitrambalam has Nithya Menen, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Raashi Khanna playing the leading ladies

The much-awaited trailer of Dhanush's upcoming family drama Thiruchitrambalam was released today. The film, directed by Mithran R Jawahar, has three leading ladies in- Nithya Menen, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Raashi Khanna. Dhanush took to his social media handle to share the trailer and captioned it, "A glimpse into Pazham's life. #Thiruchitrambalamtrailer out now馃挜 @sunpictures @anirudhofficial #Bharathiraja @prakashraaj @MithranRJawahar @MenenNithya @RaashiiKhanna_ @priya_Bshankar @silvastunt @omdop @editor_prasanna @jacki_art @theSreyas (sic)."
In the trailer, Dhanush is seen as a food delivery agent, who has a regular life where he works during the weekdays and watches movies and OTT on the weekends. He is named after his grandfather Thiruchitrambalam (Bharathiraja) and everyone fondly calls him Pazham. Nithya Menen plays Shobana, his childhood buddy, who has been there for him at every stage of his life. While Priya Bhavani Shankar's character is seen as a Thiruchitrambalam's crush, Raashi Khanna's character plays his love interest. Dhanush also seems to be an Ilaiyaraaja fan in the film as whenever he becomes upset, he is seen listening to Ilaiyaraaja songs.
During the audio launch of the film, Dhanush had revealed that he thoroughly enjoyed working in the film. He called director Bharathiraja, someone he always looks up to and someone he loved with his all his heart. While talking about Prakash Raj, Dhanush said that though they have worked together earlier, it was in this film that he could get to know the ace actor better. He also stated that he found a good friend off screen too in Nithya Menen. On the film's composer, Anirudh, Dhanush said that he always predicted that Anirudh would go on to become a successful musician as he had heard his tunes since Anirudh was a child.
Dhanush also recalled the struggling days of his father, Kasthuri Raja during the audio launch. "My father left his remote rural village with four children and wife in tow and came to Chennai looking for a job in the film industry. Though he got work here, he never thought of his ambitions, but all he was worried about was feeding his four children. Today, his elder son (director Selvaraghavan) is a director, his two daughters are doctors and his younger son (Dhanush) is an actor." Dhanush's mother, who walked up to the stage wished his son all success in his future.
