Taapsee Pannu is very enthusiastic about Dhak Dhak, her first major motion picture co-produced by Viacom 18, which she aggressively promoted on social media. However, it was earlier reported that the actor-producer had withdrawn herself from all kinds of promotions just days before its premiere (October 13), and she even deleted her social media posts about the movie. According to a number of stories, the actress disassociated herself from the project.
Now, Taapsee Pannu opened up on the same, and as per Hindustan Times, the Mannmarziyaan actress said, “I can’t say anything right now. I’m just waiting for the film, and audiences to see the labour of our hard work and love. I don’t want it to have a mark of any toxicity.”
In addition to this, a source also told the portal about the situation and stated, that Taapsee withdrew from the film's promotions because she didn't want to be treated unfairly by a studio just because they had made back their investment (by selling digital rights). She wanted to have a say in how a movie was distributed and packaged as a producer. She is offended that a small group of paid professionals is throwing her movie in the trash since they have no emotional connection to it. She didn't want to be a convenient target for destruction later on.
According to the insider, “They kept telling her it’s just a token release, and is mainly for people to watch it on OTT, so she should not bother about theatre." The source further added that the last thing any producer, director, or team expected was to not receive support from the studio after working so hard to put together a cast of this caliber in today's challenging casting climate. She felt let down by the studio which was meant to do a basic job of promoting a film, and they released the trailer just four days before the film was scheduled for release.
Parijat Joshi and Tarun Dudeja collaborated on the script for the movie Dhak Dhak, which Dudeja also directed. Under the auspices of BLM Pictures, Outsider Films Productions, and Viacom18 Studios, it is produced by Taapsee Pannu, Ajit Andhare, Kevin Vaz, and Pranjal Khandhdiya. The movie is slated to hit theaters on October 13th and stars Fatima Sana Sheikh, Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Sanjana Sanghi in the key roles.
