In Dhrubo Banerjee’s Golondaaj, Dev is seen as the father of Indian football Nagendranath Sarbadhikari. Now, the actor will be seen in yet another period piece that shows colonial India. OTTplay has earlier reported that the actor will play the character of Jatindranath Mukhopadhyay, aka Bagha Jatin – the brave freedom fighter who killed a tiger without any arms. On August 15 this year, Dev took to his social media handle to reveal the poster and his first look as the Bagha Jatin. The actor, who is also the producer of Arun Roy’s period drama, has mentioned that the film is also an effort to commemorate the 75 years of India’s independence.
In fact, Dev took to his social media and posted two photos of the recce of the film. “Producer mode on… Recce time for #BaghaJatin in Orissa,” he wrote.
As per media reports, the shooting which was supposed to start in December got postponed. Why? The director Arun Roy has been writing about Bagha Jatin for the last one and half years. VFX will play a major role in the film. The then undivided Bangladesh, the fight of Jatindranath with the tiger – all of it will be shown via VFX. Producer Dev does not want to keep any gap in those works. Hence he is taking more time to make everything, from set to production, perfect. The shooting may start in January or February of 2023, as is being heard.
Dev has another picture in his hand where he will play the role of the iconic character of Raghu Dakat. But which of his avatars will come first, Raghu Dakat or Bagha Jatin will be revealed over time.
