Deva OTT release date: Here's when and where you can stream Shahid Kapoor's remake of Mumbai Police

After having its theatrical release in January of this year, Deva is all set for its OTT premiere. The film starring Shahid Kapoor in the titular role will stream on Netflix beginning March 28, 2025. The action thriller was produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur of Roy Kapur Films and directed by Rosshan Andrrews. Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, Pravessh Rana, and Kubbra Sait complete the film's ensemble cast. With a new ending, it's a remake of Mumbai Police, Andrrews' 2013 Malayalam film.

Deva plot synopsis

Dev (Kapoor), a defiant supercop, is involved in an automobile accident one night. We find out that he is memoryless when he wakes up in the hospital. Farhan (Rana), his brother-in-law and the police commissioner, helps him piece together what happened in the days preceding his accident. A notorious mobster named Prabhat Jadhav (Manish Wadhwa) was one of the targets of his investigation into a possible police mole. Rohan (Gulati), an upright police officer and Dev's best friend, was helping him with the investigation. After a fierce assault on Prabhat Jadhav, Dev killed him in combat, although he graciously credited Rohan with the victory. Despite all the praise and admiration, Rohan tragically lost his life when a bullet pierced his chest during the felicitation ceremony. Before Dev could submit his discovery, he was involved in an accident. Despite his investigation, he was able to identify the killer. The police force sends Dev, who has lost all memory of what happened, back to figure out who killed him.

Composers Jakes Bejoy and Vishal Mishra each contributed two songs to the soundtrack of the film. Amit Roy was in charge of cinematography, while A. Sreekar Prasad was in charge of editing.

Critical reception

Critics were divided when Deva opened in theatres on January 31, 2025. Some praised Kapoor's performance, the photography, and the editing, while others panned the film for its climax and narrative. Box office receipts were low.

Deva had a poor opening weekend with dismal Monday and Tuesday holds, according to Pinkvilla. The film was a financial disaster at the box office, with a final global gross estimated at ₹51.58 to 59 crore.
