Detective Ujjwalan first look: Dhyan Sreenivasan promises 'wacky ride', reveals release window

Detective Ujjwalan, starring Dhyan Sreenivasan in the lead role, has been making significant buzz ever since its announcement. Now, the makers have revealed the first look of Detective Ujjwalan, directed by Indraneel Gopeekrishnan and Rahul G who are making their directorial debut with the film. Here’s the first look-poster of Detective Ujjwalan, which has got a release window of May 2025.

Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Detective Ujjwalan first look

The first-look poster of Detective Ujjwalan was released on social media on January 19, 2025, by its makers. The poster features the leading man Dhyan Sreenivasan, who has a bemused look on his face, riding a red-white scooter. From the characters dressed in the typical attire of small towns or villages in the southern state and the shop-like setting in the background, the film appears to be narrating a tale set in rural Kerala. There is also a big masked figure in the background looming over the others, adding a mysterious element to the poster. The film is touted to be a comedy investigation thriller.

Confirming this, the makers wrote in the caption - “The case that will change everything, Ujjwalan’s greatest mystery awaits. A puzzle so complex, a truth so hidden. Get ready for a wacky ride of twists and turns. Welcome to the wonderfully weird world of Detective Ujjwalan, where nothing is as it seems!”

Detective Ujjwalan cast

Dhyan Sreenivasan appears in the titular role of local Detective Ujjwalan, while Siju Wilson will essay the role of CI Shambu Mahadev. Kottayam Nazeer, Seema G Nair, Rony David, Ameen Nihaal Nizam, Kalabhavan Navas, Nirmal Palazhy, and Josy Sijo play other key roles, along with Nibraz Noushad, and Shahubas.

The film is produced by Sophia Paul under the Weekend Blockbusters banner, which had also backed the Tovino Thomas-starrer Minnal Murali in 2021. The Weekend Blockbusters is also bringing a zombie movie, titled Jambi.

Detective Ujjwalan is slated for release in May 2025, though the makers have not confirmed the exact date.

Debutant directors Indraneel Gopeekrishnan and Rahul G have also scripted the film.
