Right when the world was obsessing over the many tentpole high-budget movies that were hitting the big screens and that were about to, Illumination decided to drop Despicable Me 4 and show the world who is the boss; The Minions clearly. The fourth film in the series and the sixth in the overall franchise also including two Minions movies, Despicable Me 4 has turned out to be a force to reckon at the Box office. It was last week we were discussing how it has managed to stay true to its predecessor by earning an equally amount on the July 4 weekend. But the movie has yet again crossed a successful week and is on its way to even defeat Nicolas Cage’s Longlegs thG had released this week. But wait, that is not even the highlight of the update today.
Despicable Me & Minions Cross A Milestone
Then what is? Well, while the Despicable Me 4 continues or earn a Bombay after earning $120 Million in the opening weekend, the collection has now given the entire franchise a new milestone to celebrate. You read that right. Despicable Me with the Minions have now become the highest grossing animated franchise in the history of cinema. Which means Minions rule the world and they are now sitting on the top. Read on to know everything you should about the same.
As per Comicbook, the total box office collection of all the Despicable Me films and the two Minions movies combined is over $5 Billion and now you can gauge the level of success this franchise has earned. This has made the franchise the highest grossing animated franchise in the history. Box office experts have estimated that Despicable Me 4 is expected to close out the weekend very strong as it will bring the global total of the movie somewhere around $441 Million.
To give you an idea of the earnings, the first Despicable Me movie managed to earn $543,239,815 worldwide. Despicable Me 2 managed to garbers $970,766,005. Despicable Me 3 earned $1,034,799,409. the first Minions collected $1,159,398,397 globally and Minions: The Rise Of The Gru collected $940,203,765. Despicable Me and Minion are the 10th highest grossing movie franchise of all time domestically.
