Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc episode 3 is scheduled to drop in a few hours. The second episode of the anime became important, for it showed us the beautiful bond that Giyu Tomioka and Kamado Tanjiro share. Tomioka and Tanjiro are connected to one another since the start of the series, in more ways than one. Here, we explore their bond till now…
When Tomioka first met Tanjiro
Back in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba (season 1), Giyu Tomioka was introduced to Kamado Tanjiro. Back then, Tanjiro’s whole family was killed by demons. His sister Nezuko was the only surviving member, but she was uncontrollable. Nezuko turned into a demon herself. When Tanjiro tried to and struggled with controlling Nezuko in the middle of the forest, that is when Tomioka stepped in. Tomioka is the reason why Nezuko has the stick in her mouth and is constantly in a wooden box. He had suggested Tanjiro to do so. Thus, Tomioka was there for Tanjiro before any other Hashira.
Back again
They came back in the second episode of Hashira Training Arc. It was after Tanjiro received a mission from Ubuyashiki to convince Tomioka to join the Hashira training. Tanjiro, being his real self, constantly stood by Tomioka’s side till the Water Hashira was ready to reveal why he doesn’t believe he deserves a place in the training.
Water Friends Forever
Despite their age difference, Tanjiro and Tomioka are friends forever. This was proven when Tomioka was contemplating opening up and Tanjiro being his unserious self, forgot all about the topic and asked for soba-eating competition. The two are thus on the same wavelength to be able to connect on a level that friends are at. This is sure to remind you of Might Guy and Hatake Kakashi’s friendship. Among them, Kakashi was the more mature but he turned into a child with Guy around, and they shared a special bond, much like Tanjiro-Tomioka.
