Deepika Padukone to resume work with Kalki 2 after welcoming daughter Dua? Here's what we know so far

On her birthday, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD shared a heartfelt message celebrating their leading lady and expressing gratitude for her contribution to the film with special BTS moments. They also teased fans with an exciting update, hinting at her return to the sets for Kalki 2 soon, sparking anticipation as audiences await the sequel. As Nag Ashwin said earlier, there would be no Kalki without Deepika as she is integral to the story. Now, we await the shoot starting "very soon."

“The makers wrote, "Wishing our Sum-80, the beautiful @deepikapadukone a very happy birthday. You've truly brought magic to #Kalki2898AD May your year be as amazing as you are!” The video ended with a message saying, "See you soon on the sets," hinting she will join the team soon.

Deepika Padukone to Return for Kalki 2

At IFFI Goa, via News18, producers Priyanka and Swapna expressed satisfaction with Kalki 2898 AD’s success, saying, "It’s good enough for us to make a good part two." Regarding progress on part two, they shared, "30-35% of part two has already been shot. Kalki 2 will have a big international release." They confirmed Deepika continues as Sumathi and returns to the big screen post-baby Dua. "She will still be the mother in some part of the film," ensuring her pivotal role remains intact.

In case you aren’t aware, Nag Ashwin had confirmed some parts of Kalki 2898 AD’s sequel were shot alongside Part 1, giving the makers an edge. Perhaps these include Deepika's scenes. The producer duo confirmed the sequel is designed for a grand international release, akin to the first.
