Starring the Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar announced Don 3 after much anticipation. A few days ago, makers also announced that Kiara Advani would be playing the female lead in the film, which was supposed to go on floors by August of this year. The film, which is said to be releasing in the year 2025 has now sparked speculations that it might be delayed in starting the shoot.
Don 3 is written by Farhan Akhtar along with Pushkar-Gayatri of Vikram Vedha fame. Recently, in an interview, Farhan said that he is set to begin shooting for a new film in July. As he will be playing a lead actor in this film, he wants to only concentrate on that. Also, ETimes report that as the main antagonist of the film is yet to be locked, the makers are planning on making necessary changes in the character once the actor is finalized. This might need them some time to build up the script and hence shooting in August looks like a difficult task.
Apart from this, the lead actor of Don 3, Ranveer Singh, will then be busy with his soon-to-be-father duties as his wife-actress Deepika Padukone is expecting her delivery in September. This only gives makers the last months of the year to start filming the big project.
Earlier, in an interview, Farhan opened up about replacing Shah Rukh Khan with Ranveer Singh. He told Variety: "These are things that we discussed over the years, I wanted to take a certain direction with the story, but somehow we (Shah Rukh Khan and I) just couldn’t find common ground. We just parted mutually knowing that it’s probably for the best. So that’s where it is."
The 1978 hit film Don was headlined by Amitabh Bachchan. Shah Rukh Khan then played the titular character of Don in two movies which were released in 2006 and 2011, respectively. Earlier, Don 3 was planned with SRK, however, the film never took off. Don 3 starring Ranveer Singh is slated to release in 2025.
