Deepika Padukone is all set to enter the world of OTT with her film Gehraiyaan, directly released on Amazon Prime Video. Interestingly, the actor will be seen in the leading role after two long years, and fans just can't wait for the film. In the Shakun Batra directorial, Deepika plays the role of Alisha, and during a recent group media interaction, the actor revealed that this is the film she would love to watch as an audience member.
DP stated, "I think just excitement for the film's release and for people to see this film and for people to experience this character and this world. I know for certain, and I can be objective about these things, that even if I wasn't in this film, if I heard of a film called Gehraiyaan, which looks the way that it does as an audience, I would be extremely excited to watch it and I look forward to it."
The Chappaak actor further said, "The feeling right now is yes, I'm excited because it's a film that we haven't seen before, in a certain sense. And even the character that I play is something that is very different from anything that I've done before. So just that sort of excitement for people to see, to experience this world, this character, and the work that we put into it."
In the interview, Deepika was even asked if Alisha is similar to her career-defining role as Veronica from Cocktail. To which she replied, "I can understand why there is that sense. But that's also because we don't see characters like this very often in films. So the minute you play something that's even remotely similar, there's sort of comparison. But the good thing is that it doesn't seem like a direct rip-off of Veronica. Let me put it this way: maybe Alisha and Veronica could have been friends."
The actor also pointed out the differences, stating, "But actually, the differences between Alisha's choices actually stem more from her circumstances. Veronica, inherently, was sort of different from the unconventional, slightly more free-spirited, maybe slightly more confident. Actually, these characters are very different. Alisha is not a very confident character, while Veronica is an extremely confident character. So, in that sense, they're different. But I guess the messiness that they end up in is probably something that, as characters, they would kind of bond on or sort of relate to each other."
