Dear Ishq: Sumbul Touqeer Khan joins Sehban Azim-Niyati Fatnani’s show, in a whole new avatar

After winning hearts as Imlie, Sumbul Touqeer Khan entered the latest season of Bigg Boss, quickly emerging as one of the most loved contestants on the show, despite having a rough start. After making her mark in the reality show scene, the actress is all set to go back to television yet again, making an appearance on the popular television show, Dear Ishq.

Dear Ishq is set against the background of a publishing house, where a young man and woman, who are the polar opposites of one another fall in love despite the odds. Sumbul will appear on Dear Ishq in a guest role, playing the character of a cool influencer who has plans to promote Kunal Verma’s Rizwan’s book, competing with Sehban Azim’s Abhimanyu.

Speaking about her cameo appearance, Sumbul spoke of how the show marked her first onscreen appearance as an actor since Bigg Boss 16, where audiences can see her playing a character rather than as herself. Talking about how nervous and excited she was, she said “I want to put my best foot forward. Moreover, it is challenging as audiences have been used to seeing me as Sumbul and not as an actor”.

The series is directed by Atif Khan, with whom Sumbul has collaborated with before. Talking about how excited she felt to be back on the director’s sets, she also added that she felt comfortable around him, and also respected and admired the filmmaker as well.

Dear Ishq stars Niyati Fatnani as the female lead, and Sumbul had nothing but good things to say of her co-star, calling her sweet and very fun to be around. “I am looking forward to audience reactions and hope they enjoy seeing me in a different avatar,” added the Imlie star.
