If there is one word any of us would use to describe everything that has happened, is happening, and is about to happen around Deadpool & Wolverine, it would be wild. The movie, which is finally approaching its release date after years in production hell, is a victory for Ryan Reynolds, who plays the Merc with a Mouth and makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut alongside Hugh Jackman, who reprises Wolverine. There is so much anticipation around the movie that none of us can even gauge the madness about to unfold in a week. There have been rumours and speculations about the film in abundance, and everything is about to be answered now. But one thing that has left fans restless is the latest Spider-Man Easter egg that the makers have dropped in the new promo.
As the makers of Deadpool & Wolverine begin the countdown to the most-awaited release of the year, they are now sharing promos to keep the buzz going. These are working overtime as fans are dissecting each and every detail. The latest promo, which gives a brief glimpse of Lady Deadpool, gets even more intense when, in a blink-and-miss moment, we realise that Deadpool made a hand gesture that doesn't belong to him. Yes, that is where the Spider-Man Easter egg comes in. Read on to learn everything you should know about the same.
In the promo, we see Wade Wilson in a car making the iconic Spider-Man "THWIP" hand gesture, confirming that Deadpool knows who Spider-Man is in the MCU timeline. This is exciting because fans know that at one point, these two met for one of the most iconic episodes in the history of Marvel superheroes. Deadpool & Wolverine bring the two mutants to the MCU with an entire bandwagon and open doors for a whole lot of things to happen. Fans are now all excited to see this new Spider-Man nod in the promo because it means that the Merc with a Mouth already knows who the web-slinging superhero is.
Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool & Wolverine, was recently asked which character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe he would want Deadpool to crossover with. He said Spider-Man, making the latest promo even more exciting. "The thing about Deadpool is that I think he makes everything more interesting because of his audacity. But, boy, I'd sure love to see Deadpool and Spidey," Levy told Total Film Magazine of a potential crossover with Tom Holland's Spider-Man. "That's a movie I'd love to make. I feel like Tom Holland would run circles around everyone else."
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to release on the big screen on July 26, 2024. The movie is set to be a massive turn in the events of the Multiverse Saga because it directly connects to Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars. The film is set to mark the entry of X-Men into the MCU, and there is so much more packed. Multiple Spider-Man films, including those of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland, stream on SonyLIV in India and you can watch the film with your OTTplay Premium subscription too.
