July 26, 2024, changed the game completely for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which had otherwise been at the center of conversations about superhero fatigue. On this date, Deadpool & Wolverine released, proving critics wrong and paving the way for a film to earn over a billion dollars at the global box office. Ever since the movie's phenomenal success, fans across the globe have been eager to know the future plans for the Merc with the Mouth and Wolverine in the MCU. Rumors suggested a possible holiday special presentation for Wade Wilson and Marvel fans. It now seems Ryan Reynolds might have confirmed this in a new post.
Trust Ryan Reynolds to deliver the coolest project reveals that are both subtle and fun. The actor recently shared a video on his Instagram Stories, where he is dressed as Deadpool in a festive, Yuletide-themed setup. This visual alone strongly hints that he might indeed be shooting for a holiday special presentation. However, adding to the mystery, Reynolds kept the audio muted in the video but appeared visibly excited about the proceedings.
A month ago, Reynolds had also shared behind-the-scenes stills from the set of an undisclosed project. Actress Leslie Uggams, known for playing Blind Al, was also present in those pictures. The setup was unmistakably Christmas-themed, further fueling speculation about a Deadpool holiday special. There are no details yet on whether Wolverine will join Deadpool in this venture or if it connects to the films. Check out the video below.
For the unversed, Deadpool & Wolverine earned $1.338 billion at the worldwide box office, including a record-setting $84 million from IMAX formats. On streaming platforms, the movie continues to break records and set new benchmarks. Fans have been clamoring for Deadpool 4, but Ryan Reynolds recently tempered those expectations, citing his desire to spend time with his family before diving into another demanding project.
When asked by Extra about the possibility of Deadpool 4, Reynolds said: "Bite your tongue. I would love that, but there’s a reason it’s been six years since the last one. It just sort of swallows my whole life. And, you know, I have four kids that I wouldn’t mind introducing myself to at some point and spending a little time, just walking them to and from school!"
The movie stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), alongside Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), and Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), all reprising their roles from the Fox universe. New additions to the cast include Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova and Matthew Macfadyen as the TVA Agent, both making their MCU debuts.
