Deadpool & Wolverine helped the Marvel Cinematic Universe regain its momentum, while Agatha: All Along proved it wasn’t a one-trick pony. Marvel Studios is now looking at a promising future after facing criticism for mediocre content over the past few years. Moving forward, the studio is expanding beyond Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and a few supervillains; the MCU is now dealing with witches, Celestials, mutants, and much more. In recent weeks, rumors have swirled around some of the most highly anticipated future projects, with Scarlet Witch and the delayed Blade movie drawing significant attention. For context, the Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali was announced nearly five years ago.
Naturally, curiosity is at an all-time high regarding updates on these and other confirmed and rumored projects. So when Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, took the stage at D23 Brazil, fans were eager for news. In an interview with Omelete, reported by Comic Book Movie, Feige shared insights on the future of Deadpool & Wolverine, Scarlet Witch, Blade, Miles Morales, and more. Here’s everything you need to know:
The first topic addressed was Blade, starring Mahershala Ali. The movie’s recent removal from the 2025 calendar caused alarm, sparking rumors of a potential cancellation. Feige reassured fans that Blade is still in development, and Marvel Studios remains fully committed to the project. "We love the character, we love Mahershala's version of him," he said. "Whenever we change direction with a project or need to adjust the schedule, we let the public know. Rest assured, Blade will make it to the MCU."
Rumors about a potential Scarlet Witch solo movie have circulated for weeks, with speculation that it will connect to the Avengers films. Some reports suggested that Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch would join Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Feige addressed Scarlet Witch's future, confirming her return, though the timeline remains uncertain. “We had Agatha: All Along on Disney+, which was great for us,” Feige said. “Fans have a lot of questions about Wanda, so we’re excited to figure out when and how she can come back.”
Spider-Man 4, featuring Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker, is highly anticipated worldwide. Reports suggest that Miles Morales may also be making his live-action debut soon. Feige confirmed this, indicating that while he may not appear before the third Spider-Verse film, Miles will join the MCU in live-action shortly after. "I hope that shortly after the third Spider-Verse movie, Miles Morales will enter the MCU in live-action," he said.
Attention has increasingly turned to the X-Men, who are expected to become central to the MCU beyond the Multiverse Saga. Feige confirmed the X-Men are indeed a crucial part of Marvel's future. “When preparing for Avengers: Endgame years ago, we were focused on reaching a grand narrative finale, then starting fresh afterward,” Feige explained. “On the road to Secret Wars, we already know the story well beyond that, and the X-Men are an essential part of it.”
Feige’s response about the future of Deadpool & Wolverine was the most reserved. Their film, released in July, brought in a billion dollars, and fans are eager to know where they’ll appear next. Feige commented, “Plans for Deadpool and Wolverine remain the same: we’re always looking for ways to fit them in, and we’re working on it as fast as we can.”
