As they bid farewell to 2023, film enthusiasts are looking forward to 2024 with great expectations due to the release of several highly anticipated movies.

Many sequels featuring the return of some of the most popular characters among viewers have been scheduled for the year. Certain films, on the other hand, are eagerly awaited due to their subject matter, outstanding actors, and performances.

Here is a list of a few highly anticipated films to be released in 2024.

English

1. Dune: Part 2

The adaptation of Frank Herbert’s two-part novel Dune evolves around exiled Duke of House Atreides Paul Atreides’ fight against House Harkonnen with the help of Fremen people. Florence Pugh and Austin Butler will return to the cast in the film's sequel, which will have the same name as the original 2021 release. The movie is slated to release on March 1.

2. Deadpool 3

Fans of the franchise are eagerly awaiting Marvel's Deadpool 3, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Jennifer Garner, and Morena Baccarin. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, the fan-favorite X-Men character, will also make a comeback in this film.

Hindi

1. Fighter

Siddharth Anand’s Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor, is set to release on January 25. The teaser of the film, which was out on December 8, hints at some gripping ariel action sequences with power-packed performances.

2. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, will be released in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil, apart from Hindi. Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar, and Alaya F are among the action's impressive cast members. Prithviraj Sukumaran is playing the antagonist in this film.

Malayalam

1. Malaikottai Vaaliban

A much-awaited Malayalam film in 2024, Malaikottai Vaaliban, is supposed to bring Mohanlal back to prominence after his last few box office failures. The actor will be seen playing the role of a wrestler in this film. Lijo Jose Pellissery, recipient of the Kerala State Film Award, is the movie’s director. The film is expected to be released in January.

2. Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life)

The film is a survival drama adapted from Malayalam writer Benyamin’s renowned novel, Aadujeevitham. Film enthusiasts are looking forward to the movie because of Prithviraj Sukumaran's performance and director Blessy's deft storytelling technique. Viewers expressed great appreciation for Prithviraj's portrayal of the character in the movie's trailer.

Tamil

1. Indian 2

Senapathy Veerasekaran, one of Kamal Haasan's most famous characters, is making a 27-year reappearance on screen with S Shankar's Indian 2. A talented ensemble of actors, including Siddharth, S J Suryah, Bobby Simha, Samuthirakani, Gulshan Grover, and Kajal Aggarwal, play key roles in the movie. However, the movie's theatrical release date hasn't been disclosed by the producers.

2. Kanguva

Suriya will be sporting a never-before-seen avatar for Siva’s period action drama Kanguva. The first look at the film has left the actor’s fans ecstatic. According to sources, Suriya will be playing six roles in this movie. Bollywood actors Bobby Deol and Disha Patani will also mark their Tamil debut with Kanguva, which is expected to release in theatres early 2024.

Telugu

1. Kalki, 2898 AD

Under the list of the most eagerly awaited films of 2024 comes Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Mahanati-fame Nag Ashwin. Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan will play the main characters in this dystopian sci-fi film. According to a recent Hindustan Times report, makers have decided to delay the film's release date, which was originally set for January 12.

2. Pushpa 2: The Rule

Pushpa 2: The Rule will feature the return of Allu Arjun's most-recognized character, Molleti Pushpa Raj. Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil will reprise his role as SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, IPS, in this film. The movie will be released worldwide on August 15.

Kannada

1. Max

Kichcha Sudeep’s upcoming film Max is a highly anticipated Kannada film in 2024. The title teaser of the film, which was released in September, garnered over three million views on Youtube. It also hints that the actor would be playing a cop in this film, which is bankrolled by V Creations and Kichcha Creations.

2. UI

Fans of Upendra are looking forward to his next film, UI, after the release of its teaser. It also suggests a dystopian world in which people can only escape by using their intelligence. The lead role of the film is being played by Upendra himself, along with Reeshma Nanaiah and Murali Sharma.
