CID is one of the most iconic shows on Indian television. The crime drama entertained the audiences for over 20 years before it went off air in 2018. The ardent fans of this show were disappointed when the makers decided to end CID. Aditya Srivastava, Shivaji Satam, and Dayanand Shetty enjoyed a loyal fanbase for years because of the show. In a recent interview, Dayanand reflected on the closure of CID in 2018.
In an interview with Mid-Day, Dayanand Shetty said CID's timings changed a lot between 2016 and 2018. That's when the team had an initiation that something was going to happen with the show. Team CID was disappointed when the final call to end it was taken in 2018.
"While we felt bad about it, it felt worse knowing that the unit would suffer. They’ve been isolated from the rest of the industry for 21 years while doing this show. We worried about what would happen to them. We would still be able to manage and find other work, but for them to acclimatize with another unit would take time," said Dayanand.
The actor mentioned the team did feel that CID would be back within six months or a year because people liked the show. He recalled that a lot of personalities supported the show. While they were positive that the show would come back, it didn't happen until 2024.
In the same conversation, Dayanand revealed a few things he learned while working on CID. "I came to know that I am a good human being [laughs]. For 21 years, we’ve worked with one team. The people are so good, we carry a middle-class attitude in food to how we manage everything. There are no stars on set; everyone is only an actor," he shared.
Meanwhile, CID returned with its second season on December 21, 2024. The episodes air on Sony Entertainment Television and stream on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium. Keep following this space for more updates from the world of streaming and movies!
