Dave Bautista says that his journey as Drax the Destroyer is coming to an end. The wrestler-turned-actor recently revealed that he is preparing for a bittersweet exit from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Bautista wrapped up filming for his role in Thor: Love and Thunder earlier this year and is expected to begin shooting for Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The actor doesn't think he will be reprising his role as Drax after this. The third instalment of the Guardians of the Galaxy will be the sixth Marvel movie to feature the celebrated wrestler as Drax.
In an interview with People Magazine, while promoting his campaign for the Disney streaming bundle, Bautista said, “It’s been a hell of a journey with this cast and Guardians and the whole Marvel universe, it launched my career. And I'm kind of wrapping up my part of the journey, so it's very much a bittersweet thing.”.
The actor had previously made comments hinting at an end to his journey as the fan favourite character. Bautista had also taken to Twitter to double down on these comments saying somebody else might play Drax, only for the director of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, James Gunn to respond to them.
The former WWE superstar made a transition into acting and has been a fan favourite after playing Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Army of the Dead directed by Zach Snyder was his latest release and was opened to fairly positive reviews on Netflix.
Bautista is currently working on Knives Out 2, helmed by Rian Johnson. The sequel to 2019’s Knives Out, the film also stars Daniel Craige and Edward Norton among others.
