Telugu star Nani's latest movie Dasara will release on the OTT platform, just a few weeks after its theatrical release on March 30, which was met with a massive response from the audience. The movie will premiere on Netflix on April 27 . As predicted earlier, Nani starrer became a big summer hit. Despite the new Telugu releases, Dasara remained a top choice for moviegoers for fans of Telugu movies.
For Nani, Dasara was a much-needed commercial success, as he had been struggling to score a box office hit since Jersey in 2019. Though his recent films like Shyam Singha Roy and Ante Sundaraniki were critically acclaimed, their box office performance was not satisfactory. However, Nani's confidence in Dasara proved to be well-founded as it surpassed the coveted Rs 100 crore mark at the global box office within two weeks of its release.
According to reports, the OTT version of Dasara will be a little longer than the theatrical cut. If that's true, the filmmakers may have to get the movie re-censored for the additional footage before its digital release.
Dasara tells the story of a downtrodden hero, Dharani, played by Nani, and his journey to seek revenge against those who have wronged him and his friends. Director Srikanth Odela, who assisted Sukumar in movies like Nannaku Prematho and Rangasthalam, brings his mentor's influences to the film in the way he portrays Dharani's evolution.
Set in the fictional town of Veerlapaali, covered in coal dust, the film depicts the working-class society and their daily struggles. The village's lone waterhole, Silku Baru, plays a central role in shaping its political landscape. The Silku Baru emerges as a symbol of eroding social, political and moral values of the people in the village.
Nani's performance is the driving force behind the film, as he delivers a committed and powerful performance throughout the movie. He is especially effective in the final action set piece, where he channels his rage and grief into a visceral display of violence.
The film's visual style, and its rustic production design, effectively captures the dreary and impoverished setting of Veerlapaali. Besides Nani, the movie also stars Keerthy Suresh, Dheekshith Shetty, Shine Tom Chacko, Samuthirakani, Sai Kumar and Poorna.
