When composer V Harikrishna turned to direction, his first venture had Pon Kumaran joining him as co-director. The film, Yajamana, did reasonably well, which emboldened Harikrishna to go solo on the next one, Kranti, backed by the same production house, Media House Studio, led be Shylaja Nag. Kranti, though, was below average in content and execution and did not fare well in theatres, although the team claimed to have struck rich with a Rs 109 cr celebration.
Fans and general audiences alike were unhappy with what Harikrishna had churned out and since there were rumours that Darshan was likely to collaborate with team Kranti again, they urged him to reconsider this. Well, the Challenging Star has heeded the suggestion, but only partially. Darshan’s 59th film will be produced by Shylaja Nag, with the saving grace being that Tharun Kishore Sudhir, and not Harikrishna, will direct the film. Harikrishna is still on board, but as composer only.
Turns out, #D59 is a personal favourite genre for the actor, a historical, which sees him play freedom fighter Sindhoora Lakshmana. This was a project that Tharun wanted to do with Darshan earlier, but was pushed ahead at the time. Instead, the director-actor combo did Kaatera together, which was a commercial success and ended the year on a high note for the duo.
Harikrishna’s post announcing the new collaboration had a barrage of comments urging the composer to up his game and do even better than he did for Kaatera. In a historical, the background score is of utmost importance and netizens urged the composer to ensure that he brings his A-game to the table.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of the actor’s birthday, the team of his current project revealed a first look video aimed at giving an insight to his character in the film, Devil. Directed by Tarak maker Prakash Veer, the film will go on floors shortly.
