Darshan arrest fallout: Actor’s wife deactivates IG account; son subjected to trolling

In a shocking development, Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested by Kamakshipalaya police earlier this week in connection with the death of Chitradurga resident Renukaswamy. Darshan has been named accused number 2 in the case, in which the victim was lured to Bengaluru and mercilessly thrashed for allegedly having sent derogatory messages to the actor’s partner Pavitra Gowda. The actor is currently in police custody.

Following this turn of events, the actor’s wife Vijayalakshmi Darshan has deactivated her Instagram account. Her 15-year-old son Vinish is yet to follow suit and has been facing immense trolling online. The youngster took to IG stories about this, reminding the trollers that he is all of 15. Vinish has been at the receiving end of bad comments and offensive language.

Darshan, meanwhile, is alleged to have been directly involved in the death of Renukaswamy. It was initially thought the actor had ordered for Renukaswamy to be warned with physical torture about what he’d done. But CCTV footage allegedly shows that the actor also manhandled the 33-year-old. Following the attack on Renukaswamy, Darshan apparently beat up Pavitra as well, for which she sought medical attention at a hospital in RR Nagar.

TV channels have been citing an anonymous police source that the investigating team has video evidence of the actor’s direct involvement in the murder, in which Renukaswamy sustained as many as 15 deadly blows. Following the death, the deceased’s body was then discarded in a storm water drain.

Meanwhile, there are allegations of special treatment for the actor, for which an RTI application has been filed for the CCTV footage of the police station where the accused are being housed and questioned.
