Daredevil: Born Again compared to Game Of Thrones by Marvel Exec, defines the set up as problematic and scary - Read on

The curiosity surrounding Daredevil: Born Again is intense. Over the past few months, fans have been eagerly asking for updates or promotional content, unable to wait any longer to see what's being prepared. But in a collective surprise—and somewhat of a shock to fans—the show has been pushed back to a March 2025 release, delaying the much-anticipated premiere by several months. Aside from Marvel executives occasionally praising the show's material and how it has turned out, there haven't been many substantial updates from the makers. However, Marvel TV's Brad Winderbaum has finally decided to speak out, even comparing Daredevil: Born Again to Game of Thrones. A bold comparison, but it might just be that good! 

Daredevil: Born Again Compared to Game of Thrones

For those unfamiliar, Daredevil: Born Again is set to pick up the story from Netflix's Daredevil while also aligning it with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Charlie Cox, who portrayed Matt Murdock in the Netflix series, reprises his role and made his MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He later returned for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo. However, a lot is riding on his standalone show, which becomes the second TV-MA-rated Marvel-Disney show after Echo, and its gritty nature is why fans are even more excited.

According to Comicbook, Brad Winderbaum discussed how one should imagine Daredevil: Born Again in a New York that’s as intricate, problematic, and terrifying as the world of Game of Thrones. He described how all the forces are fighting for control, saying, "Imagine if New York City was as intricate, problematic, and scary as the world of Game of Thrones. All these forces vying for control, and it can be really hopeful at times, and really violent at times, and dark—but there’s light at the end of the tunnel if you just fight for it."

Daredevil: Born Again Will Be Wilder Than Netflix Seasons

According to scooper MCM Culture, "Daredevil: Born Again will reportedly do what Netflix did not do with their storytelling. The stakes are said to be higher than ever before, and the stories they have planned are some of the best ever put out by any Marvel production." This confirms that Marvel, under its new Marvel Spotlight banner, is indeed taking bold, unprecedented steps by embracing the TV-MA rating. Echo was the first show released under this rating and was appreciated for exploring darker themes effectively.

As for the cast, Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox as the titular character. After being introduced in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was confirmed that he would have a future in the MCU. Cox has since reprised his role in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo. The show is set for release in 2025, and if all goes well, it should start streaming in March.
