Dahaad, a crime drama series, is all set to come to Prime Video. Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar are responsible for the show's creation and direction, respectively, alongside Ruchika Oberoi. Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Reema Kagti, and Zoya Akhtar serve as executive producers of the Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby production Dahaad, which stars Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah. The series will be available to Prime members on May 12 for streaming.
In Dahaad, sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati and her fellow officers at the local police station deal with criminal activity throughout eight episodes. It all begins when sub-inspector Bhaati is called in to investigate a string of women's deaths that have been discovered in unlocked public restrooms. At first glance, the murders appear to be suicides, but as more information becomes available, Bhaati begins to fear a serial killer is at large. As she races to solve the case and prevent the murder of another innocent woman, she engages in a thrilling game of cat and mouse with the seasoned criminal.
Aparna Purohit, head of Prime Video's India Originals, praised the show, saying that the story in Dahaad is captivating and the characters are well-developed. It is remarkably well-written and impeccably executed. The extraordinary acting by the cast makes the drama tangible and engaging, keeping the audience engrossed to the very end. They couldn't be more thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with the excellent folks at Excel and Tiger Baby.
Sonakshi Sinha remarked that Dahaad is a really special endeavour for her. It's the first Indian series to ever be presented at the Berlinale Film Festival, and it also happens to be her streaming debut. Unlike the other roles she has had, "Anjali Bhaati" is unique. The fearless protagonist that Reema and Zoya have crafted could serve as an inspiration to today's youth. It's been an honour to work with this talented group of people, and the actor is thrilled to deliver this series to viewers all across the world via Prime Video.
Vijay Varma added that Dahaad is a gritty and gripping shot of adrenaline in a way that is nothing short of special. It's the most difficult and gratifying role he has ever had. Anand is a humble educator and a family man who devotes his weekends to working with disadvantaged children. But the enigma surrounds what lurks beneath the surface of his personality. Dahaad cements Reema and Zoya's reputation as two of the most accomplished filmmakers working today. He is excited to be working with Excel Entertainment, Tiger Baby, and Prime Video again on this series. Vijay is curious to see how audiences in India and elsewhere respond to it after hearing such enthusiastic reviews from the Berlin Film Festival.
