Custody is Naga Chaitanya's latest film which was directed by Venkat Prabhu. The film had Krithi Shetty as the heroine and it was Naga Chaitanya's debut film in Tamil. The makers promoted the film in an aggressive manner and the hype was also quite good.

The action thriller was released on the 12th of May and has now completed one week of its theatrical run. As per the trade, the cop drama has only made a six crore share in the Telugu states. The film was sold for 12 crores and Custody made only half of the pre-release business.

The film has been removed from several screens already and new releases like Bichagadu 2 and Anni Manchi Sakunamule have been replaced. Chay Akkineni played a cop in this film which had Arvind Swamy as the main villain.

In the US too, the film has made only $57634K so far which is also a low number. The uneven direction by Venkat Prabhu has spoilt the film for the fans and general audience. Word of mouth was dull from day one itself and this resulted in the low occupancy in both the single screens and multiplexes.

The makers will end up with good losses. Chay had pinned a lot of hopes on this film as he played the police constable for the first time in his career. Venkat Prabhu did not create enough engagement for the audience and that is the reason Custody failed at the box office.
