The director made his directorial debut with the cult film Chennai 600028

It's been 16 years since director Venkat Prabhu made his directorial debut in the Tamil film industry. On the 16th anniversary of his stint in Tamil cinema, the ace director uploaded a picture with his cousin and music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and stated that they were working on the music of his upcoming film Custody.
The director thanked everyone for the support and wrote, "Wow 16 years in the industry!! Now in dubai working on the background score of #custody with my hero of #chennai600028 @thisisysr (sorry @Premgiamaren) thank q @charanproducer na thank q almighty for all the blessings!! And thank q one and all for all the love and support throughout these years!! The Best is yet to come (sic)."
Naga Chaitanya Akkineni is all set to make his debut in Tamil cinema with Custody. The action thriller which also stars Krithi Shetty, is being made in Tamil and Telugu and is gearing up to hit screens on May 12. The rest of the star cast includes R Sarathkumar, Vennela Kishore, Premi Vishwanath, Sampath Raj, Premgi Amaren and Priyamani. The second single from the film was released recently. Pavan Kumar is presenting this ambitious project and the film is being made under the banner of Srinivasa Silver Screen. Custody is said to be made on a grand scale.
Venkat Prabhu shot to fame with the cult film Chennai 600028 (2007), a sports comedy with an ensemble cast including Jai, Shiva, Premji, Aravind Akash, Nithin Sathya to name a few. His impressive resume includes Saroja, Goa, Mankatha, Massu Engira Masilamani, Maanaadu to name a few. He has also tested waters in acting with films like April Maadathil, Unnai Saranadaindhen, Ji, Sivakasi, Vaazhthugal, to name a few. He also took the plunge into the web space with Kalavu, Lock Up, Kutty Story, Victim and Live Telecast.
