The makers of the Malayalam upcoming film, Cup, have dropped an update on its big screen debut today, September 3. The sports drama, which has Mathew Thomas in the lead role, will have a theatrical release on September 27, 2024.

The film, which has a screenplay penned by Akhilesh Latharaj and Denson Durom, is directed by Sanju V Samuel. Under the auspices of Ananya Films, Allwin Antony and Angelena Mary have bankrolled the movie alongside Alphonse Puthran. Cup is centered on the life of 16-year-old Nidhin from Idukki's Vellathuval Village, who aspires to be a professional badminton player and wants to take part in the Olympics someday.

Guru Somasundaram plays Nidhin's father, Babu, while Thushara Pillai plays his mother. Mrinalini Susan George plays Nidhin's sister. Playing Nidhin's friend Raneesh is Basil Joseph. Karthik Vishnu and actress Namitha Pramod will also be featured in significant roles. Anikha Surendran and debutante Riya Shibu are the female leads in this anticipated feel-good film.

The supporting cast includes Anand Roshan, Santhosh Keezhatoor, Nandini Gopalakrishnan, I V Junais, Altaf Manaf, Mridul Pachu, Ranjith Rajan, Chembil Ashokan, Alvin John Antony, Nandu Poduval, and Anandritha Manu.

Six songs written by Manu Manjith and Arsi and composed by Shaan Rahman will be featured in the movie. There are rumours that this film will also feature a reworked version of an old song. The movie will be shown in theatres by Magic Frames.

With Christy, Neymar, and Journey of Love 18+, Mathew had a busy 2023. Sony LIV is offering streaming for both Christy and Journey of Love 18+. This year, he also made his acting debut in Tamil in Vijay's box office hit project, Leo. In addition, he will play a title role in Dhanush's upcoming Tamil film, Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam also stars Anikha Surendran in the lead role. His next films are Vasuvin Garbinigal in Tamil and Karthikalyani in Malayalam.
