According to the official synopsis of Criminal Record, "An anonymous phone call draws two brilliant detectives into a confrontation over an old murder case – one a young woman in the early stages of her career, the other a well-connected man determined to protect his legacy. The series touches on issues of race, institutional failure and the quest to find common ground in a polarized Britain." The show by Paul Rutman also stars Zoe Wanamaker, Stephen Campbell Moore, Shaun Dooley, Charlie Creed-Miles, Aysha Kala, Dionne Brown, Tom Moutchi, Ian Bonar, Chizzy Akudolu, Joanna Borja, Steffan Cennydd, Janet Kumah, Kaylen Luke, among many others.

AppleTV+ released the official trailer of the show recently, in which Cush Jumbo’s DS June Lenker investigates the circumstances of an old murder case that may have resulted in the imprisonment of an innocent man, much to the chagrin of the original investigating officer, DCI Daniel Hegarty, played by Peter Capaldi. Following the anonymous tip, DS Lenker decides to check if DCI Hegarty’s investigation was faulty, even though he insists it was done by the book and resulted in a confession. But when she persists, despite being told that Hegarty is “one of the good ones”, it has them locking horns.
