With great excitement, Shruti Ramachandran and her husband Francis Thomas are looking forward to the release of Lavanya Tripathi-starrer Miss Perfect. The web series, which is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar, has been created by the couple.

Shruti revealed in a conversation with OTTplay that they had the idea for this project during the pandemic lockdown period. "Annapurna Studios contacted us and inquired about our interest in writing for them. The story, which was first known as Cleaning Lady, was liked by them amid a few other one-liners, she said.

The Sunday Holiday actress continued by revealing that this story had previously been planned as a movie, with her, Darshana Rajendran, and Roshan Mathew playing the key parts.

Francis stressed that character exploration varies when writing for films and the digital space. He claimed that they get enough time to delve into the characters because the format for OTT platforms is lengthy." The pair had penned the screenplay for the Putham Pudhu Kaalai Tamil anthology film segment, Ilamai Idho Idho.

According to Shruti, Miss Perfect is a comedy of errors in which interpersonal communication breakdowns lead to a number of issues. "We found inspiration in the works of Malayalam veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, where humour emerges from chaos," stated Francis, who is also co-writing Bejoy Nambiar's next film, Por.

Although the script was originally written in English, the actress mentioned that director Vishvak Khanderao and his team translated it into Telugu and made the necessary adjustments to make it appealing to the audience there.

"We wrote it based on our experiences staying in Bombay, Chennai, and Kochi. However, Francis continued, "The way of life in Hyderabad is entirely different." Shruti went on to say that the series' comedic elements had been changed and that it was set against a somewhat larger-than-life backdrop.

Regarding the working style, Francis said that he writes the script and provides structure, while his wife excels in scene development. Because they feel that a plot is driven by its characters, they both give each of them a lot of attention.

Together, we develop a story concept that Francis writes. This is why I can only write with my spouse," Shruti remarked. The couple also has plans to write for a Malayalam film soon. Meanwhile, Shruti is busy with the work on Disney+ Hotstar’s upcoming Malayalam web series Pharma, in which she is playing a prominent role.
