Popular stylist, costume designer Neeraja Kona, who’s associated with the who’s who of the Telugu and Tamil film industries, is set to wield the megaphone. While there were rumours that she was gearing up for her directorial debut a couple of years ago, the news was confirmed by her good friend and actor Nithiin over a tweet today.

It was cinematographer PC Sreeram who made the announcement about his upcoming Telugu film where he shared an image with writer Mithun Chaitanya and Neeraja Kona. “Our new journey begins with all your blessings with my director @NeerajaKona and writer @mithunchaitanya,” he wrote. An excited Neeraja Kona responded, “ Sir!!” and a series of emoticons

Nithiin also took time out to meet his Ishq cinematographer in Hyderabad as he arrived for the untitled project’s shoot. “Met my most fav dop … its always such a pleasure meeting you sir @pcsreeram,” the Macherla Niyojakavargam actor wrote. He later congratulated Neeraja Kona on his directorial debut and said she had come up with a fantastic script.

“Neeeruuuu!! Super happy n proud of u!! I know for a fact that u n p.c sir are going to killlll itt!! Ohh n btw whatta fantastic script u have written!!,” Nithiin, whose film Dil completed 20 years of its release yesterday, tweeted. The cast, crew and the production house of the Neeraja Kona’s debut are yet to be made official.

From working with Kajal for Baadshah, associating with Nithiin for films like Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde, Heart Attack, Neeraja turned a personal stylist for Samantha and worked on some of the most prominent films through the decade including Attarintiki Daredi, Mersal, Ninnu Kori, Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru and Dasara, to name a few.
