Thallumaala, the Malayalam action film, was widely praised for its storytelling style and action scenes. The movie's songs were also highly acclaimed for their unique lyrics and composition. While the film received two awards at the 2023 Kerala State Awards for editing and dance choreography, it missed out on recognition for its songs and composition. Many people have expressed their belief that Thallumaala deserved recognition for its music. Now actor Lukman Avaran in an interview with MediaOne Lite admitted that he expected an award for the film's music director Vishnu Vijay.

"We didn't celebrate the awards we received for Thallumaala. However, we congratulated the winners in our Whatsapp group. There were no other celebrations. We were expecting awards for editing and music. I had hoped for Vishnu Vijay to receive an award, but unfortunately, it didn't happen. Ultimately It is the decision of the jury and we cannot claim it. Although recognition brings happiness, we are not working in a film solely to receive awards."

Lukman mentioned the discussions that took place regarding Thallumaala. He believes that such discussions only serve to increase a film's popularity. Flaws in a movie, pointed out by the viewers should be received with a sportsmanlike attitude.

Thallumaala, helmed by Khalid Rahman, starring Tovino Thomas in the lead role revolves around a group of friends and their intense fights. The movie was filled with action sequences, which were never attempted before in Malayalam. Lukman essayed an aggressive young man in the film which grossed over ₹ 50 crore worldwide.

Meanwhile, Lukman's new film in theatres is Corona Dhavan. Helmed by debutant CC Nithin, the film also features Sreenath Bhasi, Johny Antony, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Sruthy Jayan, and Sivaji Guruvayoor. The trailer of the film released hints at a fun entertainer set in the backdrop of the Covid lockdown. A group of villagers struggles to find liquor during the pandemic, and the story follows their attempts to get it. The movie was initially titled Corona Jawan, later changed to Corona Dhavan
