Coolie update: Sathyaraj’s first look from Rajinikanth, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film is out

Rajinikanth is teaming up with talented filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for the first time, for his 171st project, Coolie. The movie, which is touted to be a gangster thriller, features the legendary superstar in a grey-shaded role. As reported earlier, the veteran actor is also reuniting with senior actor Sathyaraj after a long gap of over 38 years, for the highly anticipated project. The Coolie team recently dropped the senior actor’s first look from the film on social media.

Sathyaraj’s first look from Coolie is out

Recently, the makers of Coolie, including director Lokesh Kanagaraj and production banner Sun Pictures took to their official social media handles and dropped the first look poster of Sathyaraj. In the poster, the senior actor is seen in an intense with a clean bald head, thick-framed eyeglasses, and a salt and pepper beard. “Kicked to have #Sathyaraj sir joining the cast of Coolie as Rajasekhar... Welcome on board sir,” wrote director Lokesh, who revealed the character poster on his official handles.

Sathyaraj’s role in Coolie

As mentioned before, Sathyaraj is playing the character named Rajasekhar in the upcoming gangster thriller. If the reports are to be believed, the senior actor is playing the close friend and confidante of the protagonist, played by superstar Rajinikanth, in the film. The reports suggest that the Baahubali actor’s character in the movie is a positive one, unlike the famous characters he played in the yesteryear Rajinikanth blockbusters. However, these reports are not officially confirmed, yet.

As you may know, the makers of Coolie have been dropping the character posters from the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial, from the last few days. The team introduced Soubin Shahir, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj’s characters in the highly anticipated film, so far. Anirudh Ravichander has joined the team as the music composer. Girish Gangadharan is the director of photography. Philomin Raj handles the editing. The Rajinikanth starrer is expected to be released by the second half of 2025.
