Thalaivar 171, starring Rajinikanth, is now officially called Coolie! The stylish title teaser dropped on April 22 has shaken the internet. Fans have been calling Rajinikanth-starrer’s title teaser a banger, crediting director Lokesh Kanagaraj for paying homage to Thalaivar’s vintage dialogue. Fans have been especially mesmerised to witness the superstar’s charisma, calling it one of the best teasers of the actor.
One user commented, “Thalaivar effortlessly exudes his panache in this #Coolie title teaser showcasing his unmatched charisma. Loki, Ani, and Anbariv deliver it right (sic)”. Many users hailed Lokesh for using Rajinikanth’s vintage references, and for creating the teaser ‘a pure bliss’ to Thalaivar fans.
Some users also noted that Lokesh Kanagaraj chose the ‘perfect pan-India’ title for the film, and have been wondering if the film has any connection with the superstar’s old film Thee (1988). For the unversed, in Thee, Rajinikanth plays the role of a coolie who turns into a don.
However, a few users were disappointed with Anirudh’s background score and criticised him for not making a huge impact as his other compositions. Nevertheless, fans have been having a field day with the teaser creating a huge roar on X (formerly called Twitter).
Check out some of the reactions:
The explosive teaser of Coolie introduces Thalaivar Rajinikanth who is seen fighting goons at a factory-like place. The complete teaser has been shot in a monochromatic theme with just the gold colour highlighted. The teaser’s biggest highlight is the dialogue “Thappenna Sariyenna Eppothum Vilaiyaadu” delivered by Rajinikanth. This dialogue was taken from the lyrics of the song Jagame Thanthiram from his own 1979 film Ninaithale Inikkum.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the upcoming film is rumoured to have Rajinikanth’s Thalapathy co-star Shobana playing a pivotal role. Actors such as Nagarjuna Akkineni, Ranveer Singh and Shruti Haasan are also reportedly part of the project. Anirudh Ravichander is scoring the music for the film which is bankrolled by the prestigious banner, Sun Pictures.
