Coolie: Rajinikanth to resume shooting for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film soon; major updates are out

Rajinikanth recently made headlines after he was admitted to the hospital for a non-surgical procedure. Even though the treatment was pre-planned, it was initially rumoured that the legendary superstar was rushed to hospital due to an emergency situation. Lokesh Kanagaraj, the director of Coolie, later put rumours to rest by revealing that it was a pre-planned procedure. Now, the filmmaker has dropped major update on Rajinikanth’s plans for the upcoming Coolie schedules.

Rajinikanth to resume Coolie shoot on THIS date?

In a recent interaction with the media, director Lokesh Kanagaraj confirmed that Rajinikanth’s health condition has significantly improved. The superstar, who is doing fine, is planning to resume the filming of Coolie in a few days. As reported earlier, the upcoming Chennai schedule of the much-awaited film is expected to start rolling on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The leading man, on the other hand, is planning to resume the filming on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

After wrapping up the Vizag schedule of Coolie last week, Lokesh Kanagaraj had addressed the media. The filmmaker revealed Rajinikanth informed the team about his plans to get the non-surgical procedure done by the end of September 2024, before they kickstarted the Vizag schedule. That is the reason why the leading man wrapped up his Vizag portions on September 28, 2024, while the rest of the team continued with the filming. As reported earlier, Shruti Haasan, who plays a key role in Coolie, wrapped up her portions in the film with the Vizag schedule.

Along with Rajinikanth and Shruti Haasan, Coolie features a stellar star cast including Sathyaraj, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and others in the pivotal roles. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the songs and original score for the film. Girish Gangadharan is the director of photography. Philomin Raj handles the editing. Anbariv duo handles the action choreography. The movie, produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures, is expected to hit the theatres by mid-2025.
