Coolie, the highly anticipated Tamil film, will mark the first onscreen collaboration of Rajinikanth and filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj. The upcoming project, which was earlier named Thalaivar 171, is touted to be an out-and-out action thriller with a touch of fantasy. Earlier, it was reported that Coolie will start rolling on June 10, 2024, with a low-key pooja ceremony. However, the recent updates suggest that Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ambitious film has been delayed, due to the superstar’s busy schedule.
Rajinikanth’s Coolie is delayed
As per the recent updates, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial has not started rolling on June 10, 2024, Monday, as planned before. According to reports, the shooting of the highly anticipated project has been postponed due to leading man Rajinikanth’s busy schedule and the change in his plans. The grapevine suggests that the shooting of the action thriller has been rescheduled, as the veteran actor is yet to finish the dubbing work of Vettaiyan, his 170th film helmed by TJ Gnanavel.
The superstar will join the sets of Coolie only after wrapping up his other commitments. Meanwhile, director Lokesh Kanagaraj and his team have decided to focus on the pending pre-production works of the film. If the reports are to be believed, the talented filmmaker is currently busy giving some final touches to his script. The production team is busy with the set work of the film, while the directorial team is busy finalising the supporting cast.
Coolie to go on floors on THIS date?
If things go as planned, the highly anticipated project, which marks Rajinikanth’s 171st outing in cinema, will go on floors on July 1, Monday. However, a final decision on the same will be made only after the leading man completes the dubbing of Vettaiyan and his other personal commitments. The reports also suggest that director Lokesh Kanagaraj has been giving his entire focus to the script and pre-production, as he wants to make its first-ever collaboration with the superstar a memorable film.
Sathyaraj and Shobana, the veteran actors, are reportedly roped in to play pivotal roles in Coolie. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the songs and the original score. Vikram cinematographer Girish Gangadharan is reuniting with director Lokesh as the director of photography. Philomin Raj handles the editing. The Rajinikanth starrer is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures.
