Netflix has announced a renewal of the post-apocalyptic drama Sweet Tooth, which is based on the DC comic of the same name. Ever since the first season ended with a cliffhanger, fans have been waiting for a renewal and the news is a pleasant one.
Netflix announced season 2 for the comic adaptation through a Twitter clip on Thursday. In the video, several members of the cast were given a box, which had a large piece of chocolate that read Sweet Tooth 2. Members of the cast are then seen asking questions about what to expect from season 2.
Sweet Tooth in its first season explored the story of the aftermath of The Great Crumble, which saw the birth of animal-human hybrids. The story follows Sweet Tooth, a half-human, half-deer hybrid who sets out on a journey to uncover his origin and in search of a new beginning. The eight-episode first season that told the post-apocalyptic story was well received.
An adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s comic book series, the first season had Jim Mickle and Beth Schwartz as showrunners, executive producers and writers. Robert Downey Jr, Susan Downey, Amanda Burrell and Linda Moran were executive producers.
The show starred Christian Convery, Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar, Stefania LaVie Owen, Aliza Vellani, Will Forte, Dania Ramirez, Neil Sandilands and Naledi Murray. The show also saw James Brolin as the narrator.
Though an announcement about a second season for the fan-favorite show has been made, no official release date has been produced. All episodes from season one of the fantasy drama are available to stream on Netflix.
