The Indian government will soon honour the cast and crew behind the Oscar-winning movie RRR . Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh on Friday confirmed the news in a tweet. He also shared a picture of himself with RRR's lead Ram Charan.
"Happy to be the first person to meet and congratulate our dearest Mega Power Star @AlwaysRamCharan for getting #Oscar for #NaatuNaatu after landing in India 🇮🇳. Soon we are going to honour the team of #RRRMovie in Parliament," tweeted Ramesh.

Director SS Rajamouli's RRR created history when it became the first Indian production to secure a nomination and win the Oscar for best original song. The film's hit dance number Naatu Naatu bagged the coveted award beating the likes of pop music stars Rihanna and Lady Gaga. The film's dance number was also performed live by a group of dancers at the Oscars. Naatu Naatu singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava were also part of the performance. The dance performance left all the high-profile members of the audience at the Oscars in awe. And it received a standing ovation from the Hollywood crowd.
RRR's lead stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan were supposed to perform their world-famous dance moves live at the Oscars. However, they opted out of the original plan owing to personal reasons.
RRR bringing home the Oscars was a watershed moment in the history of Indian cinema. Social media was flooded with compliments from the who's who of India . "Exceptional! The popularity of ‘Naatu Naatu’ is global. It will be a song that will be remembered for years to come. Congratulations to @mmkeeravaani , @boselyricist and the entire team for this prestigious honour. India is elated and proud. #Oscars," tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the film's Oscar win.
Composer MM Keeravani and songwriter Chandrabose were awarded the Academy Awards last Sunday.
