Confirmed! Aashiq Abu to have THIS Bollywood filmmaker play antagonist in his film Rifle Club

The makers of the Malayalam film Rifle Club confirmed that Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will be playing the antagonist in the movie. The film will mark the debut of the director in Malayalam.

The film is Aashiq Abu’s next directorial, and it stars Soubin Shahir and Dileesh Pothan in lead roles. Varathan-fame Suhas and Sharfu, along with Dileesh Karunakaran, have penned the screenplay for Rifle Club.

Kashyap is well-known for his pathbreaking style of filmmaking, and the movie industry and fans are aflutter, excited to see what distinct viewpoint the director will offer. Under Abu's direction, Rifle Club is expected to provide a novel narrative and a different cinematic experience. The film is expected to release in theatres later this year.

In his signature sardonic manner, he had put out a request for a part in the Rifle Club. The filmmaker of Gangs of Wasseypur made a statement following the Malayalam director's casting call post on social media. The casting call for the film inquired about interested actors between the ages of 25 and 40 from “all genders and body types”.

"You need a North Indian actor from Mumbai for a cameo?" Anurag asked with a quick remark. In response, Aashiq said, "Yes, sirji, very welcome."

Anurag Kashyap’s love for Malayalam films

Anurag Kashyap has never hidden his love for Malayalam cinema. He has consistently expressed his admiration for the Malayalam film industry's performers and content. He recently unveiled the trailer for Vinay Forrt’s Family, which is set to hit the big screen on February 23. The director said at the trailer release that more Malayalam movies of this kind need to be made.

Anurag Kashyap’s previous collaborations in South India

Moothon, directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Nivin Pauly and Roshan Mathew, was co-produced by Anurag. The director was also involved in Nithin Lukose's Paka (River of Blood) as a producer. He had recently appeared in a brief cameo in Vijay's Leo and starred as a villain in the film Imaikkaa Nodigal, starring Nayanthara.
