Irfan Pathan, who has always been a fan favourite in the country thanks to his charm and all-round skills on a cricket pitch, has now stepped into acting. He has recently completed the filming for his debut venture Cobra that stars Vikram.
The cricketer turned actor has now finished filming his parts in the action thriller, which marks his big entry into the cinema industry.
Ajay Gnanamuthu, who helms the highly anticipated project, took to Instagram to share photos from the sets with the former cricketer, and wrote, “Last day of shoot for @irfanpathan_official sir.. Glad to have met and worked with such a lovely and a warm person like you sir.. It’s been such such a memorable journey”.
Pathan also replied to the post, thanking the director and the team saying that his debut journey into cinema has been wonderful and he could not have asked for a better team than he had. He also added, “Can’t wait for Aslan n cobra to arrive on the big screen.”
The former cricketer will play the role of Aslan Yilmaz, a Turkish Interpol officer, while Chiyaan Vikram will be seen reportedly in more than 20 different looks for the movie.
Bankrolled by Lalith Kumar's 7 Screen, the movie also stars Srinidhi Shetty, Mrinalini, Malayalam actor Lal, Kanika, Padmapriya, Babu Antony and others. The movie is touted to release in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages.
The music and original score for Cobra are composed by A. R. Rahman, while Harish Kannan and Bhuvan Srinivasan are the cinematographer and editor respectively.
Pathan is not the only big-time former cricketer to make his entry into cinema recently. Harbhajan Singh, another former Indian international, who was previously seen in special roles in various projects, played the lead in the Tamil sports comedy Friendship.
