Popular Indian digital platform Dice Media, a part of the digital entertainment company Pocket Aces, has recently announced its latest venture, an innovative series called Clutch. Touted to be India’s first web series focussing on the world of esports, the platform had announced the upcoming show through a press release.
The announcement of the avant-garde web show comes at a time when the popularity of online gaming and esports have soared; owing to the pandemic restrictions, which has limited entertainment to mainly online-based platforms. Esports mostly involve video gaming competitions, involving professional as well as amateur players, which have been in existence since the 1970s. The advent of live streaming had led to a popularity surge for the sport.
Set in the world of e-gaming and sports, Clutch will reportedly revolve around the dramatic story of a major league esports competition and will focus on the efforts of an ‘underdog’ team’s attempt at winning the same.
Further details about the premise and cast are yet to be out. The show seems to have taken inspiration for its name from Clutch Gaming, a now-folded American esports franchise.
Dice Media has had several popular hits on its YouTube channel including Operation MBBS, What The Folks, Adulting and Please Find Attached. Recently, it had released the latest season of its mini web series Firsts with each season focussing on charming short tales of first moments of milestones in people’s lives.
