Known for his aesthetically pleasing visuals and emotional stories, the filmmaker’s last outing was Ponniyin Selvan duology. Nayakan - Prime Video

Nayakan is one of the landmark films in Tamil cinema. Headlined by Kamal Haasan, the gangster drama is about a central character who rises from nowhere and becomes one of the powerful underworld dons in Mumbai. The film stars Saranya Ponvannan as the female lead, with Ilaiyaraaja scoring the music.

OK Kanmani - ZEE5, Aha

OK Kanmani is a 2015 romantic drama starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen, along with Prakash Raj, Leela Samson and others. The film revolves around a modern-age couple who chooses to live in together with no faith in marriage. With AR Rahaman scoring the music, it was later remade in Hindi as Ok Jannu.

Alai Payuthey - Aha

Alai Payuthey is one of the evergreen romantic dramas to have come out from Tamil cinema. Starring Shalini and R Madhavan, with Khushboo and Arvind Swamy appearing in guest roles, the film explores the trials and tribulations of a couple who elopes and get married. As they navigate the independent urban life, they also face conflicts caught amid their emotions. The film also stars Vivekh, Swarnamalya, Jayasudha and others.

Roja - ZEE5

Roja is a romantic thriller that was released in 1992. The film starred Arvind Swamy, Madhoo, and others. It revolves around a newly married couple who move to Jammu and Kashmir for work. However, after the husband gets abducted by militants, the wife goes to great lengths to save him. The film was produced by filmmaker K Balachander under the banner Kavithalayaa Productions. Roja went on to become a success and marked AR Rahman's debut as composer.

Anjali - ZEE5

Anjali is a family drama starring Raghuvaran, Revathy, Baby Shamili, Prabhu, and others. The film revolves around a family of four who is just hitting back to normalcy after their child is stillborn. However, after a series of circumstances, it is revealed that the baby is still alive and raised at a care centre, but has been diagnosed with a terminal disease. Anjali is one of the Tamil films to feature a child as protagonist, apart from featuring a number of child artists in prominent roles.
