If ending the year with a bang is a plan, the film industry has the biggest clash of titans planned for it. Yes, we are talking about December 2023 and the mega-films that are lined up for release in the month. Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, Vijay Sethupathi, Sidharth Malhotra, Prabhas, and others have their films lined up for release.
The clash also brought many heated debates on the Internet, calling these plans unfair and uncalled for. Below are the films listed that will be clashing at the box office in the month of December.
The Sandeep Reddy Vanga film Animal is one of the most anticipated films of this year. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the leading role, the violent drama film has got fans impatient as it has been delayed since August this year. Animal also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandana, and Triptii Dimri in pivotal roles.
Meghna Gulzar is the director of Sam Bahadur, the other movie opening that day. Based on the heroic life of India's first field marshal, Sam Manekshaw, in which Vicky Kaushal plays the titular role, the film also features Sanya Malhotra as his onscreen wife and Fatima Sana Shaikh as the former Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.
The action thriller film Yodha is the major release from Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha are the film's directors, and Sidharth Malhotra, Disha Patani, and Raashii Khanna play the lead roles.
The other film releasing on the same day is Sriram Raghavan's suspense thriller, Merry Christmas. The exciting film marks the first outing of Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles and will simultaneously release in Hindi and Tamil.
Shah Rukh Khan, who started the year with a bang with Pathaan, was all set to end the year with the same with Dunki. The Rajkumar Hirani film has been believed to be a sure-shot winner, as the filmmaker has only shattered box office records with his films. Moreover, SRK has emerged as the box office king this year, and their first collaboration cannot be expected to be anything less than fireworks.
However, the announcement of Salaar's release on the same day has brought a new wave of discussion among cinegoers. Prabhas plays the lead role in the movie, which Prashanth Neel of KGF fame directed. The filmmaker's previous film was a mammoth at the box office, and fans are expecting the same with Salaar. The film also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran as the main antagonist and Shruti Haasan as the female lead.
