Ranbir Kapoor is making headlines since he is touted to be a part of YRF’s Dhoom 4, but that is the first time when the makers have cast a relatively younger face in a movie in recent times. Varun Dhawan recalled that he was the one who approached Aditya Chopra for YRF Spy Universe. The actor spilled the beans at the Citadel: Honey Bunny trailer launch, where he also shared the reason for being rejected from entering the universe, and this was before the makers even turned their films into YRF Spy Universe.

Varun Dhawan met Aditya Chopra when Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai was in the works

Varun Dhawan recalled meeting YRF head Aditya Chopra and playing badminton with him and Maneesh Sharma. The duo was working on Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif-Emraan Hashmi's Tiger 3 during the time. Of course, this was much before YRF Spy Universe was officially announced with Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan.

Varun asked Aditya why doesn't he make an action film with younger talent. This was in reference to all the YRF Spy Universe movies being with SRK, Salman, Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham, and the likes.

Varun Dhawan wanted to be cast for YRF Spy Universe but got rejected

Varun was obviously pitching himself for an action film with YRF but Aditya kept refusing him. When Varun pursued him further, the YRF head revealed that he doesn't have the budget to cast Varun in his action films. "You're not at that place where I can give you such a big budget," Varun said while looking at Samantha, who was zoned out.

Varun Dhawan thankful to Citadel: Honey Bunny makers for the opportunity

Varun then approached Chopra and asked him what the budget is. The actor got the figure required to make an action film with the production house.

Varun then recalled the time when he was offered Citadel Honey Bunny and asked them about the budget because of the deja vu. With that, the actor thanked the director and makers for getting the platform to showcase his talent.

Apart from Citadel: Honey Bunny, Varun will also be seen in action in Atlee's Baby John. He plays the lead protagonist, while Jackie Shroff is the lead antagonist in the movie.
