Prime Video has released the official key art and action-packed trailer for the highly anticipated Italian series Citadel: Diana. Matilda De Angelis leads the international cast of the series, which includes Maurizio Lombardi, Julia Piaton, Lorenzo Cervasio, Giordana Faggiano, Daniele Paoloni, Bernhard Schütz, and Filippo Nigro. The new spy series will premiere on Prime Video worldwide on October 10, 2024, with all six episodes available at once.

Plot synopsis of Citadel: Diana

In the year 2030, Milan: Manticore, a formidable hostile syndicate, destroyed the independent global spy agency Citadel eight years ago. That was eight years ago, and here we are in the present: Matilda De Angelis reports that the enemy has stranded Diana Cavalieri, an undercover operative for the Citadel, in Manticore and is molesting her. Edo Zani (Lorenzo Cervasio), the heir to Manticore Italy and son of the Italian organization's head, Ettore Zani (Maurizio Lombardi), is competing for leadership against the other European families. When she finally sees an escape route and the opportunity to vanish forever, she must rely on an unexpected ally—Edo—to accomplish this.

Arnaldo Catinari created and directed Citadel: Diana, with assistance from Ilaria Bernardini, Gianluca Bernardini, Laura Colella, and Giordana Mari. Alessandro Fabbri is not only the head writer but also the developer. The production company behind the series is a joint venture between Amazon MGM Studios and Cattleya, which is a division of ITV Studios. Gina Gardini serves as both showrunner and executive producer, and the other executive producers include Riccardo Tozzi, Marco Chimenz, Giovanni Stabilini, and Emanuele Savoini.

The series also has support from the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual, an arm of Italy's Ministry of Culture. Additionally, Midnight Radio serves as an executive producer.

Success of the original 'Citadel' series and future plans

Season one of Citadel, which debuted in 2023 and starred Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci, and Lesley Manville, was an immediate hit with audiences throughout the world. After only 24 days, it became Prime Video's second most-watched original series outside of the US and fourth most-watched at all times. Citadel and its subsequent action-espionage original series, both of which are executive produced by the Russo Brothers' AGBO, tell the story of the intelligence agency Citadel and its powerful foe Manticore on a global scale.

Produced, written, and shot entirely within the region, each of the spinoff series from the Citadel universe has A-list local talent and has a distinct aesthetic that is deeply steeped in its host country's culture.
