CID fame Dinesh Phadnis is no more. The TV actor was recently hospitalized and was on a ventilator. However, he breathed his last today (December 5). The news of his demise was confirmed by his CID co-star Dayanand Shetty. While it was initially reported that Dinesh suffered a cardiac arrest, it was later confirmed that he had liver damage.
Having said that, Dayanand Shetty of CID told Indian Express that his co-star Dinesh passed away due to multiple organ failure.

Dinesh Phadnis played the role of Fredericks aka Freddy in CID, which is one of the longest-running shows on Indian TV. Dayanand Shetty, who played Daya in the show, told Indian Express, "Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am. There were a lot of complications and he was removed from the ventilator last night."
Dinesh's last rites will take place today in Mumbai. Shetty earlier told Pinkvilla that Phandis was rushed to hospital because of liver damage. However, the actor's health remained critical and there were no signs of major improvement. Dayanand also revealed that Dinesh was being treated for another ailment.
However the medication adversely affected his liver. "You never know when the medicine that one is taking to treat something can cause another major ailment. One should be very careful regarding allopathic medicine," he told the entertainment portal.
Who was Dinesh Phadnis?
Dinesh was best known for playing the role of Freddy in CID. He was an integral part of the TV show for almost 20 years. Besides this show, he made an appearance in Asit Kumarr Modi's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The actor even played supporting roles in Bollywood films like Hrithik Roshan's Super 30 and Sarfarosh. He also made a cameo appearance in Mela's song Mela Dilon Ka.
